                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the exemption of Public Housing Authorities from
 1-3     competitive procurement requirements for projects funded in part by
 1-4     federal grants.
 1-5           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-6           SECTION 1. Section 392.056, Local Government Code, is amended
 1-7     by adding new subsection 392.056(f) to read as follows:
 1-8           (f)  the competitive bidding laws, including Chapter 271 of
 1-9     this Code, do not apply to the planning, acquisition,
1-10     establishment, development, construction or renovation of housing
1-11     projects, programs or facilities which are funded, in part, by a
1-12     United States Department of Housing and Urban Development grant.
1-13           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
