1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to certain fees prescribed by the Texas Board of Health
1-3 for the regulation of opticians.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 352.054, Occupations Code, is amended to
1-6 read as follows:
1-7 Sec. 352.054. FEES. The board by rule shall prescribe fees
1-8 in reasonable amounts sufficient to cover the costs of
1-9 administering [necessary to administer] this chapter, including
1-10 fees for [in amounts not to exceed]:
1-11 (1) [$50 for] an initial application for a certificate
1-12 of registration;
1-13 (2) [$20 for] issuance of a certificate of
1-14 registration;
1-15 (3) [$30 for] issuance of a renewal certificate of
1-16 registration; and
1-17 (4) [$20 for] issuance of a duplicate certificate of
1-18 registration or duplicate renewal certificate of registration.
1-19 SECTION 2. (a) This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
1-20 (b) The Texas Board of Health shall prescribe fees under
1-21 Section 352.054, Occupations Code, as amended by this Act, not
1-22 later than January 1, 2002. The amount of a fee under Chapter 352,
1-23 Occupations Code, in effect immediately before the effective date
1-24 of this Act shall remain in effect until the Texas Board of Health
2-1 adopts a new amount for that fee as required by this Act.
