1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the jurisdiction of the County Court at Law of Erath
 1-3     County.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 25.0742, Government Code, is amended to
 1-6     read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 25.0742.  ERATH COUNTY COURT AT LAW PROVISIONS. (a)  In
 1-8     addition to the jurisdiction provided by Section 25.0003 and other
 1-9     law, a county court at law in Erath County has concurrent
1-10     jurisdiction with the district court in proceedings under Chapter
1-11     262, Family Code, in which the Department of Protective and
1-12     Regulatory Services has assumed the care, custody, and control of a
1-13     child.
1-14           (b)  The judge of a county court at law may not engage in the
1-15     private practice of law.
1-16           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-17     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-18     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-19     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-20     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
