HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Judge Robert "Bob" O'Connor on
1-2 September 26, 2000, at the age of 81, brought a great loss to the
1-3 family and many friends of this esteemed individual; and
1-4 WHEREAS, A native of San Antonio, Judge O'Connor was a
1-5 graduate of The University of Texas School of Law and proudly
1-6 served his country as a pilot and flight instructor in the United
1-7 States Air Corps during World War II; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Following his tour of duty, Judge O'Connor returned
1-9 to San Antonio and worked for many years as a successful attorney;
1-10 in 1979, he was appointed to the prestigious position of federal
1-11 magistrate, in which capacity he served with integrity until his
1-12 retirement in 1986; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Judge O'Connor was devoted to his wife, Neida, and
1-14 the couple enjoyed many years of wonderful memories together;
1-15 during the course of their marriage, the O'Connors watched their
1-16 close-knit family grow to include four children and three cherished
1-17 grandchildren; and
1-18 WHEREAS, This noteworthy gentleman was a 33rd-Degree
1-19 Scottish Rite Mason and a member of both Perfect Union Lodge No. 10
1-20 and Charles W. Anderson No. 1413; throughout his tenure as a Mason,
1-21 Judge O'Connor distinguished himself as a leader, serving as past
1-22 master of Anchor Lodge No. 424 and as a grand master, and he was
1-23 also active with the Advisory Council of Albert Pike Chapter, Order
1-24 of DeMolay; and
2-1 WHEREAS, Robert O'Connor was a man of compassion and
2-2 generosity, and although he is missed by the many individuals with
2-3 whom he shared his life, his spirit continues to live on in the
2-4 hearts and minds of all who were privileged to know him; now,
2-5 therefore, be it
2-6 RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas
2-7 hereby pay tribute to the life of Judge Robert O'Connor and extend
2-8 sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Neida
2-9 O'Connor; to his children, Deneice, Michele, Brian, and Patrick; to
2-10 his grandchildren, Deneice-Ashley, Korie, and Katie; and to the
2-11 many other relatives and friends of this beloved gentleman; and, be
2-12 it further
2-13 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-15 House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in
2-16 memory of Judge Robert O'Connor.
