HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, On February 10, 2001, many proud residents from 1-2 Walker County will gather to celebrate Walker County Emergency 1-3 Personnel Appreciation Day; and 1-4 WHEREAS, These unsung and estimable leaders diligently 1-5 strive to create a positive environment while preserving the peace 1-6 and ridding Walker County of negative influences, such as crime, 1-7 drugs, pollution, and corruption; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Encompassing more than 801 square miles, Walker 1-9 County is a vibrant and evolving community that has more than 1-10 57,000 residents; Walker County emergency personnel have made an 1-11 enormous impact on the lives of countless people, and their 1-12 numerous good works and deeds greatly contribute to the community's 1-13 morale and well-being; and 1-14 WHEREAS, There are many different exemplary organizations 1-15 that donate their time and considerable talents to the community 1-16 and that make up Walker County emergency personnel, including the 1-17 Walker County Sheriff's Department, Huntsville Police Department, 1-18 University Police Department, Department of Public Safety of the 1-19 State of Texas, Huntsville Independent School District Police 1-20 Department, Southwestern Cattlemen's Association, Huntsville Fire 1-21 Department, New Waverly Volunteer Fire Department, Riverside 1-22 Volunteer Fire Department, Dodge Volunteer Fire Department, Crabb's 1-23 Prairie Volunteer Fire Department, Pine Prairie Volunteer Fire 1-24 Department, Thomas Lake Road Volunteer Fire Department, Texas 2-1 Alcoholic Beverage Commission, State Fire Marshall's Office, Walker 2-2 County Emergency Medical Service, Texas Rangers, Texas Forest 2-3 Service, East Texas Narcotics Task Force, Environmental Protection 2-4 Agency, State Park Police, United States Forest Service, and the 2-5 Texas Parks and Wildlife Department; in addition, district attorney 2-6 investigators and county constables are involved in emergency 2-7 response; and 2-8 WHEREAS, Walker County is a safer and better place because of 2-9 the ongoing and invaluable efforts of emergency personnel; the hard 2-10 work and dedication of these admirable residents on behalf of their 2-11 fellow Texans is truly commendable, and it is indeed most 2-12 appropriate to pay tribute to them at this time; now, therefore, be 2-13 it 2-14 RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-15 hereby designate February 10, 2001, as Walker County Emergency 2-16 Personnel Appreciation Day and extend to all those involved in this 2-17 vital community service sincere best wishes for continued success.
