HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, Steve Palko has recently been honored with the
 1-2     Distinguished Performance Award for Business Volunteer of the Year
 1-3     by the National Alliance of Business, and this noteworthy
 1-4     accomplishment indeed merits special recognition; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, The president and cofounder of Cross Timbers Oil
 1-6     Company, Mr. Palko is both an exceptional businessman and a
 1-7     community leader; he has given generously of his time and talents
 1-8     to a host of worthwhile organizations, working toward the
 1-9     betterment of the Tarrant County area and the Lone Star State in
1-10     both education reform and workforce development; and
1-11           WHEREAS, This civic-minded leader has participated in
1-12     numerous national initiatives, including the Secretary's Commission
1-13     for Achieving Necessary Skills for the United States Department of
1-14     Labor, the National Assessment of Vocational Education for the
1-15     United States Department of Education, ACT, the Council of Chief
1-16     State School Officers, and the Committee for Economic Development;
1-17     and
1-18           WHEREAS, The cochair of the Texas Business and Education
1-19     Coalition, Mr. Palko has also been active with the National
1-20     Alliance of Business Board and Business Policy Councils and is
1-21     chair of the Work Advantage Tarrant County Workforce Development
1-22     Board; and
1-23           WHEREAS, The citizens of Texas have benefited greatly from
1-24     the hard work and diligence of this distinguished gentleman, and it
 2-1     is truly fitting that we honor him as he receives this most
 2-2     prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-4     hereby congratulate Steve Palko for receiving the Distinguished
 2-5     Performance Award for Business Volunteer of the Year presented by
 2-6     the National Alliance of Business and extend to him sincere best
 2-7     wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it
 2-8     further
 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-10     prepared for Mr. Palko as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-11     House of Representatives and Senate.
