                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, Joe Beaver of Huntsville garnered his third
 1-2     all-around world title at the 42nd National Finals Rodeo, and this
 1-3     significant accomplishment is indeed worthy of special legislative
 1-4     recognition; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, He edged fellow Texans Scott Johnston and Fred
 1-6     Whitfield for the all-around title at the prestigious competition
 1-7     held at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada;
 1-8     Mr. Beaver's outstanding efforts earned him more than $225,000 in
 1-9     prize money; and
1-10           WHEREAS, In addition, he teamed with Texas native Bret Gould
1-11     to win the team roping competition; the dynamic duo finished the
1-12     event with a stellar time of 4.2 seconds, which was six seconds
1-13     faster than their nearest competitors and moved them to fourth in
1-14     their respective world standings; and
1-15           WHEREAS, A five-time world champion calf roper, Mr. Beaver
1-16     was selected by fans as the Original Coors Fan's Favorite Cowboy
1-17     and received a $5,000 bonus and a replica trophy of the Original
1-18     Coors Fan's Favorite Cowboy bronze sculpture created by well-known
1-19     Western artist Tony Chytka; and
1-20           WHEREAS, With his enormous talent, customary flair, and
1-21     uncanny ability to rise to the occasion, Mr. Beaver has once again
1-22     demonstrated the indomitable spirit and desire necessary to become
1-23     a champion; his performance at the National Finals Rodeo was truly
1-24     remarkable, and it is most fitting to pay tribute to him at this
 2-1     time; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-3     hereby congratulate Joe Beaver for his most recent accolade as well
 2-4     as his career achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes
 2-5     for continued success and good fortune; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for Mr. Beaver as an expression of high regard by the
 2-8     Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
