HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas Energy Education Development Project
 1-2     (TEED) is a nonprofit education program that was founded in 1982 to
 1-3     promote the development of comprehensive energy education programs
 1-4     in schools in the Lone Star State while providing students with a
 1-5     strong foundation of knowledge and the requisite leadership skills
 1-6     to address the issue of energy conservation in the future; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Approximately 170 high schools in Texas are
 1-8     currently involved with TEED and are helping our state become more
 1-9     energy efficient and responsible; moreover, an annual summer camp
1-10     is held for schoolchildren to learn more about conservation
1-11     projects; and
1-12           WHEREAS, In conjunction with Texas schools, this far-reaching
1-13     program effectively teaches students about the scientific aspects
1-14     of how energy is stored, produced, and utilized in order to make
1-15     our state's homes, cars, and businesses function; in addition, a
1-16     deserving high school senior is selected each year to be the
1-17     recipient of a TEED scholarship that goes toward the cost of
1-18     college textbooks; and
1-19           WHEREAS, The ongoing and invaluable efforts of the members of
1-20     this commendable project have had a positive impact on our state;
1-21     the members of the Texas Energy Education Development Project are
1-22     playing an integral role in the conservation of energy, and it is
1-23     most appropriate to pay tribute to them at this time; now,
1-24     therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-2     hereby declare March 1, 2001, as Texas Energy Education Development
 2-3     Day at the State Capitol and extend to all those associated with
 2-4     this project sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
 2-5     further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for the members of TEED as an expression of high regard by
 2-8     the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
