No. 191 77R4995 MJS-D HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Texas provide services 1-2 of the utmost importance to the young people of our state, and the 1-3 clubs' significant contributions are indeed worthy of special 1-4 legislative recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Striving to inspire Texas youth to reach their full 1-6 potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens, these 1-7 outstanding clubs emphasize and promote time-honored virtues and 1-8 principles, such as positive self-identity, health and well-being, 1-9 and community involvement; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Laying the foundation for the future, the Boys and 1-11 Girls Clubs of Texas accomplish many of their goals through the 1-12 implementation of highly effective programs that are designed to 1-13 develop well-rounded individuals and instill a sense of competence, 1-14 usefulness, belonging, and empowerment into their members; and 1-15 WHEREAS, There are 90 Boys and Girls Clubs in the Lone Star 1-16 State that serve 122 cities and more than 275,000 youth; selected 1-17 by a group of peers, one will have the singular distinction of 1-18 representing our great state and competing in the national Youth of 1-19 the Year Contest; and 1-20 WHEREAS, With their proven record of excellence and ability 1-21 to put their members on the right track in life, these estimable 1-22 clubs have made a tremendous impact throughout the entire State of 1-23 Texas; and 1-24 WHEREAS, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Texas continue to help 2-1 young people grow and succeed, and it is indeed most appropriate to 2-2 pay tribute to these fine clubs at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-4 hereby congratulate the Boys and Girls Clubs of Texas on their many 2-5 achievements and extend to their members and all those associated 2-6 with these commendable clubs sincere best wishes for good fortune 2-7 and happiness in years to come; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Texas as an expression of 2-10 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
