HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
1-1 WHEREAS, Due to their service in the United States Armed
1-2 Forces, many native Texans must give birth to their children while
1-3 serving in other states or in foreign lands, and it is thus
1-4 appropriate that the Texas House of Representatives and Senate
1-5 recognize these children as honorary Texans; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Texans take great pride in their state and its
1-7 storied history, and the lineage of many of these Lone Star State
1-8 natives can be traced back generations; military service is also a
1-9 longstanding tradition among Texans, and their dedication, courage,
1-10 and patriotism are renowned the world over; and
1-11 WHEREAS, To ensure that these substantial Texas roots
1-12 continue to grow deep and preserve familial legacies that began
1-13 centuries ago, it is important to recognize the children of Texan
1-14 servicemen and servicewomen with a designation that connects them
1-15 with their distinguished forebears; now, therefore, be it
1-16 RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas
1-17 hereby acknowledge all children of native Texans serving in the
1-18 United States Armed Forces who are born outside the Lone Star State
1-19 as honorary Texans and extend to them the privileges and
1-20 perquisites accorded those individuals native to Texas.
