                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The family and friends of Tillman Bascome
 1-2     McHenry, Sr., of Deer Park were greatly saddened by the passing of
 1-3     this esteemed Texan on December 15, 2000, at the age of 73; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born on November 5, 1927, Mr. McHenry was employed
 1-5     by the City of Pasadena until he retired in 1990; three years later
 1-6     he began working in the district office of State Representative
 1-7     Robert E. Talton, and he remained a dedicated and beloved employee
 1-8     there until the time of his death; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, This honorable gentleman served his country during
1-10     World War II in the Coast Guard Merchant Marines and performed an
1-11     additional nine years of service with the National Guard; and
1-12           WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Deer Park, Mr. McHenry was
1-13     deeply involved in his community, working on the board of Deer Park
1-14     Parks & Recreation Department for 26 years and on the board of the
1-15     Deer Park Community for 31 years; moreover, he was a founding
1-16     member of the Deer Park Advisory Council and past president of the
1-17     Maxwell Senior Citizens of Deer Park; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Mr. McHenry also participated in area softball
1-19     organizations, dedicating his time and energy as four-term
1-20     president of the Houston Amateur Softball Association; he was
1-21     inducted into the National Amateur Softball Association Hall of
1-22     Fame as well as the Pasadena and Houston Chapter of the ASA Hall of
1-23     Fame; and
1-24           WHEREAS, Respected and admired by many, Mr. McHenry was a
 2-1     devoted husband and loving father whose spirit will undoubtedly
 2-2     live on in the hearts of the countless people whose lives he
 2-3     touched; now, therefore, be it
 2-4           RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-5     hereby pay tribute to the life of Tillman Bascome McHenry, Sr.,
 2-6     and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:  to his
 2-7     wife, Barbara Joan McHenry; to his children, Brenda Scafidi,
 2-8     Robert McHenry and wife Joette, daughter-in-law, Carolyn McHenry,
 2-9     Tammy Endres and husband John, Tillman B. McHenry, Jr., and
2-10     Terry McHenry and wife Kim; to his sister, Barbara Brewer; and to
2-11     his grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and all his other relatives
2-12     and many friends; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14     prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2-15     Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory
2-16     of Tillman Bascome McHenry, Sr.
