                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas Christian University (TCU) Lady Frogs
 1-2     basketball team achieved a significant milestone by winning the
 1-3     2000-2001 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) championship, the first
 1-4     conference title in team history; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Facing San Jose State University at home in
 1-6     Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, the Lady Frogs demonstrated true
 1-7     championship mettle by taking a 66-54 victory, which earned the
 1-8     team the outright WAC championship and the top seed in this year's
 1-9     conference tournament; and
1-10           WHEREAS, The Lady Frogs continued their domination of
1-11     conference foes by winning the WAC tournament, and the team's
1-12     efforts were rewarded with a first-ever NCAA tournament berth; in
1-13     the school's inaugural NCAA tournament contest, TCU overcame
1-14     21st-ranked Penn State 77-75 before falling to perennial power
1-15     Louisiana Tech in the second round; and
1-16           WHEREAS, This outstanding TCU women's hoops team set school
1-17     high water marks for number of wins, 25, and number of three-point
1-18     field goals made; in addition, the Lady Frogs received votes in
1-19     both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Top 25 polls, another
1-20     team first; and
1-21           WHEREAS, The season was also notable for a school-best
1-22     11-game winning streak, 10 of which were against WAC opponents,
1-23     including a triumph over the rival SMU Mustangs; and
1-24           WHEREAS, Head coach Jeff Mittie schooled his young athletes
 2-1     in basketball fundamentals, encouraged them to embrace the team
 2-2     concept, and helped them to fulfill their championship dream; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, The team members and coaching staff of the TCU Lady
 2-4     Frogs are a source of great pride, not only to their family and
 2-5     friends, but to the school they proudly represent, and it is indeed
 2-6     appropriate that they be honored at this time; now, therefore, be
 2-7     it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-9     hereby congratulate the members of the TCU Lady Frogs basketball
2-10     team on winning the 2000-2001 Western Athletic Conference title and
2-11     extend to them best wishes for continued success; and, be it
2-12     further
2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14     prepared for the team members as an expression of high regard by
2-15     the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
