HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, Robert S. "Bob" Driegert has served with distinction
 1-2     as chairman of the Republican Party of Dallas County since 1992;
 1-3     and
 1-4           WHEREAS, During this time, he has attended 10 to 12 civic and
 1-5     political functions each week and established the Lincoln Day
 1-6     Dinner as a permanent annual function for the Dallas County
 1-7     Republicans; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Elected for five consecutive terms as county
 1-9     chairman in one of the most populous counties in America,
1-10     Mr. Driegert has served as a delegate or alternate at three
1-11     National Republican Conventions and as a delegate at every Texas
1-12     State Republican Convention since 1968; and
1-13           WHEREAS, His political experience also encompasses serving as
1-14     campaign treasurer during Kay Bailey Hutchison's successful
1-15     campaign for Texas state treasurer in 1990 and serving as a member
1-16     of the State Republican Executive Committee from 1984 to 1992; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Mr. Driegert has a degree in economics from the
1-18     Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and
1-19     earned an MBA and his law degree at The University of Texas at
1-20     Austin, where he had the highest LSAT score for his 1967 entering
1-21     law school class; and
1-22           WHEREAS, A partner in Lawson and Fields, Mr. Driegert is a
1-23     member of the Dallas, Texas, and American bar associations and the
1-24     Dallas and state chapters of the Texas Society of Certified Public
 2-1     Accountants and the American Institute of CPAs; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, Actively involved in the community, Mr. Driegert has
 2-3     donated his time to a number of civic-oriented organizations and is
 2-4     currently serving as U.S. Army Reserves ambassador, as treasurer on
 2-5     the national board of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, as chairman of
 2-6     the Richardson Children's Theater Board, and as a board member of
 2-7     the Dallas Knife and Fork Club; and
 2-8           WHEREAS, Mr. Driegert has previously served with distinction
 2-9     as chairman of the U.S. Olympic Committee in Dallas and on the
2-10     Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, the Parkland Hospital
2-11     board, and the Dallas Child Welfare Board; and
2-12           WHEREAS, His wife, Julie, and two sons, Jon and Bill, are a
2-13     tremendous source of pride for this devoted family man; and
2-14           WHEREAS, With his exceptional leadership and dedication at
2-15     the state, county, and city levels, he has proven himself to be a
2-16     person who is making a lasting difference in the Lone Star State;
2-17     through his political accomplishments and tireless efforts for his
2-18     community, Mr. Driegert has earned a special place in the hearts of
2-19     countless people, and it is truly a privilege to pay tribute to
2-20     him; now, therefore, be it
2-21           RESOLVED, That the 77th Texas Legislature hereby commend
2-22     Robert S. "Bob" Driegert for his impressive record of service to
2-23     the Dallas County Republican Party; and, be it further
2-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-25     prepared for Mr. Driegert as an expression of high regard by the
2-26     Texas Legislature.
