HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, It is a privilege to declare June 2001 to be "Falun
 1-2     Dafa Awareness Month" in the State of Texas; and
 1-3           WHEREAS, Falun Dafa, also called "Falun Gong," came to Texas
 1-4     in 1996 when its founder, Li Hongzhi, gave his first lecture in the
 1-5     United States; since then, supporters of Falun Dafa have conducted
 1-6     seminars, workshops, and classes in various Texas communities, all
 1-7     free of charge; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, An ancient form of qigong, the practice of refining
 1-9     the body and mind through special exercises and meditation, Falun
1-10     Dafa had its first public introduction in 1992 and has since
1-11     attracted tens of millions of people worldwide; the three supreme
1-12     principles of Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance lay at the
1-13     heart of its teachings of the pursuit of health and fitness and the
1-14     quest to find wisdom and enlightenment; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Falun Dafa has grown to become one of the most
1-16     popular meditation practices in Chinese history, emphasizing not
1-17     only physical cultivation but the development of moral character as
1-18     well; the movement now enjoys widespread popularity throughout
1-19     Texas, receiving numerous recognitions and honors as well as the
1-20     appreciation of the many Texas practitioners who share in this
1-21     healthy activity; now, therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED,  That  the  77th  Legislature of the State of Texas
1-23     hereby declare June 2001 to be  "Falun  Dafa  Awareness  Month"  in
1-24     Texas and extend to its  practitioners sincere best wishes for the
 2-1     future.
