No. 299 77R17076 WMS-D HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, For the past century, the Central Texas Labor 1-2 Council, AFL-CIO, has worked to benefit its membership, community, 1-3 and fellowman and this respected entity's 100th anniversary truly 1-4 merits special recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Chartered on October 31, 1901, the organization has 1-6 grown to include 48 labor unions and its members have consistently 1-7 devoted their energy and craftsmanship to creating a brighter, more 1-8 prosperous future for all; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The Central Texas Labor Council has supported many 1-10 worthy causes during the course of its existence, including 1-11 education, charities, and relief efforts for those beset by 1-12 economic hardships and natural disasters, and its members have also 1-13 been active participants in the political process; and 1-14 WHEREAS, An organization which has long promoted duty to 1-15 one's country, the Central Texas Labor Council is distinguished by 1-16 the patriotic participation of its membership in defending the 1-17 United States during times of war; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Throughout its history, those associated with the 1-19 Central Texas Labor Council have been at the forefront of efforts 1-20 advancing the rights of working families and making the American 1-21 dream accessible to all, and it is indeed appropriate that they be 1-22 honored for their achievements; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-24 hereby commend the Central Texas Labor Council and its affiliated 2-1 unions and members for service in the finest traditions of the 2-2 State of Texas and extend to its membership sincere best wishes on 2-3 the occasion of their organization's 100th anniversary; and, be it 2-4 further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for the Central Texas Labor Council, AFL-CIO, as an 2-7 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and 2-8 Senate.
