By Junell H.C.R. No. 306 77R16439 MDM-D HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The retirement of David P. McNutt of Huntsville as 1-2 financial services division director brings to a close an exemplary 1-3 22-year career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice 1-4 (TDCJ); and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born in Pittsburg, Texas, Mr. McNutt played football 1-6 and baseball for the Pittsburg High School Pirates; he attended Sam 1-7 Houston State University and graduated in 1970 with a bachelor of 1-8 business administration degree; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This acclaimed financial expert started his career 1-10 with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a correctional 1-11 officer at the Ferguson Unit before taking on the posts of 1-12 construction auditor and fiscal assistant for construction; after 1-13 three years, he left to pursue business opportunities with Brown & 1-14 Root, U.S.A., Velsicol Chemical Corporation, and Triplex, Inc.; and 1-15 WHEREAS, In 1982, he returned to TDCJ as chief of staff 1-16 services and was subsequently promoted to assistant director for 1-17 budget, deputy director for administrative services, and interim 1-18 division director for administrative services; since January 1997, 1-19 he has been responsible for administering the agency's budget in 1-20 his position as financial services division director; and 1-21 WHEREAS, He has served with nine TDCJ executive directors and 1-22 through eight legislative sessions, representing the interests of 1-23 the agency and the people of Texas with integrity; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Throughout his career, David McNutt has aspired to 2-1 the highest standards of professionalism, and he has earned the 2-2 respect of all those who know him; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-4 hereby congratulate David P. McNutt on his retirement from the 2-5 Texas Department of Criminal Justice and commend him for his 2-6 steadfast dedication to the citizens of the Lone Star State; and, 2-7 be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mr. McNutt as an expression of highest regard by the 2-10 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
