HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, W. Carl McEachern is retired from his post as
 1-2     superintendent of the Bonham Independent School District (ISD)
 1-3     after nearly four decades of leadership and professional excellence
 1-4     in the field of education; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, A graduate of Baylor University, Mr. McEachern
 1-6     earned his master's degree from East Texas State University in
 1-7     1976, and received his mid-management and superintendent
 1-8     certification from the same institution in 1979 and 1988,
 1-9     respectively; and
1-10           WHEREAS, He began his career as a teacher and coach at Haltom
1-11     Junior High School with the Birdville ISD in August 1961, and
1-12     throughout the ensuing years, he continually demonstrated  his deep
1-13     commitment to the youth of this state; and
1-14           WHEREAS, After nearly two decades as an educator,
1-15     Mr. McEachern was selected to serve as assistant principal at Bowie
1-16     High School in the Arlington ISD in 1979, and five years later, he
1-17     moved to Sam Houston High School, where he continued in that
1-18     capacity; later named principal of Lindale High School, he had
1-19     served in that post for three years when he was offered a position
1-20     as superintendent of Martins Mill ISD  in 1988; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Since assuming that vital role with the Bonham ISD
1-22     in 1991, this highly regarded administrator has profoundly
1-23     influenced the future of public education in the district through
1-24     the many significant accomplishments realized during his
 2-1     outstanding tenure; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, An active community leader as well, he has
 2-3     distinguished himself through his participation on the Texoma
 2-4     Private Industrial Council, the Texoma Workforce Board, and  the
 2-5     Bonham Industrial Board of Directors; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, Through his work as an educator and administrator,
 2-7     Mr. McEachern touched the lives of a great many people, and his
 2-8     exemplary contributions to the children of Bonham indeed merit our
 2-9     highest praise and commendation; now, therefore, be it
2-10           RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas
2-11     hereby commend W. Carl McEachern on his noteworthy tenure as
2-12     superintendent of the Bonham Independent School District and extend
2-13     to him sincere best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement;
2-14     and, be it further
2-15           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-16     prepared for Mr. McEachern as an expression of high regard by the
2-17     Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
