HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, On June 30, 2001, H. L. Milton is retiring as 1-2 superintendent of the Honey Grove Independent School District after 1-3 45 years in public education; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Milton attended East 1-5 Texas State Teachers College, where he earned his bachelor of 1-6 science and master of education degrees before embarking on a 1-7 distinguished teaching career; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Milton taught vocational agriculture in Peacock 1-9 and science classes in Greenville, and in 1958 he became an 1-10 administrator when he was named a school principal; after an 1-11 outstanding 19-year tenure as principal of Fannindel High School, 1-12 he served as the principal of Honey Grove High School and in 1984 1-13 became superintendent of the Honey Grove Independent School 1-14 District; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Admired and respected by colleagues and students 1-16 alike, Mr. Milton deserves a rich and rewarding retirement after 1-17 having contributed so much to the field of education and to the 1-18 lives of countless young people through the years; now, therefore, 1-19 be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-21 hereby congratulate H. L. Milton on his retirement and commend him 1-22 for his many years of devotion to education; and, be it further 1-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-24 prepared for Mr. Milton as an expression of high regard by the 2-1 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
