                                 A JOINT RESOLUTION
 1-1     proposing a constitutional amendment to authorize the legislature
 1-2     to authorize the state to operate casinos and games of chance or
 1-3     skill.
 1-4           BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 47, Article III, Texas Constitution, is
 1-6     amended by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:
 1-7           (f)  The Legislature by general law may authorize the State
 1-8     to operate casinos and games of chance or skill at a state-operated
 1-9     casino.
1-10           SECTION 2.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1-11     submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 6, 2001.
1-12     The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
1-13     proposition: "The constitutional amendment to authorize the
1-14     legislature to authorize the state to operate casinos and games of
1-15     chance or skill at a state-operated casino."
