                                 A JOINT RESOLUTION
 1-1     proposing a constitutional amendment relating to the rulemaking
 1-2     power of the supreme court.
 1-3           BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-4           SECTION 1.  Section 31(c), Article V, Texas Constitution,  is
 1-5     amended to read as follows:
 1-6           (c)  The legislature may delegate to the Supreme Court or
 1-7     Court of Criminal Appeals the power to promulgate such [other]
 1-8     rules as may be prescribed by law or this Constitution, subject to
 1-9     such limitations and procedures as may be provided by law.
1-10           SECTION 2.  Section 31(b), Article V, Texas Constitution, is
1-11     repealed.
1-12           SECTION 3.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1-13     submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 6, 2001.
1-14     The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against
1-15     the proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing the
1-16     legislative branch to exercise more direct supervision of the
1-17     rulemaking power of the Supreme Court of Texas."
