                                 A JOINT RESOLUTION
 1-1     supporting the ratification of a proposed amendment to the
 1-2     Constitution of the United States providing for a federal balanced
 1-3     budget.
 1-4           BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  The Legislature of the State of Texas hereby
 1-6     states its support of and intention to ratify, pursuant to Article
 1-7     V of the United States Constitution, an amendment to the
 1-8     Constitution of the United States to require a balanced federal
 1-9     budget as proposed by House Joint Resolution No. ___ or Senate
1-10     Joint Resolution No. ___ of the 107th Congress of the United
1-11     States.
1-12           SECTION 2.  The secretary of state of this state shall:
1-13                 (1)  notify the archivist of the United States of the
1-14     action of the 77th Legislature of the State of Texas, Regular
1-15     Session, 2001, by sending the archivist a copy of this resolution;
1-16     and
1-17                 (2)  send copies of this resolution to the United
1-18     States senators from Texas, to all United States representatives
1-19     from Texas, to the vice president of the United States, and to the
1-20     speaker of the United States House of Representatives with the
1-21     request that it be printed in full in the Congressional Record.
