                                 A JOINT RESOLUTION
 1-1     proposing a constitutional amendment to authorize a school district
 1-2     to exempt from ad valorem taxation the property of an elderly
 1-3     disabled veteran.
 1-4           BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 2, Article VIII, Texas Constitution, is
 1-6     amended by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
 1-7           (e)  The governing body of a school district by its own
 1-8     action may exempt from ad valorem taxation by the school district
 1-9     the property of a disabled veteran, as defined by Subsection (b) of
1-10     this section, who has attained the age of 65.
1-11           SECTION 2.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1-12     submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 6, 2001.
1-13     The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
1-14     proposition:  "The constitutional amendment to authorize a school
1-15     district to exempt from ad valorem taxation the property of an
1-16     elderly disabled veteran."
