R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of the Honorable Frank Bobbitt McGregor
 1-2     of Hillsboro on October 28, 2000, at the age of 77, has brought a
 1-3     great loss to the family and many friends of this esteemed
 1-4     gentleman; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Born on November 30, 1922, in Houston, Mr. McGregor
 1-6     graduated from Sam Houston High School and pursued his higher
 1-7     education at Baylor University, where he earned bachelor of arts,
 1-8     master of arts, and juris doctor degrees; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Mr. McGregor answered his country's call to duty and
1-10     served in the Army Air Corps during World War II; he was later
1-11     recalled into Korea and retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel
1-12     from the United States Air Force; and
1-13           WHEREAS, A highly respected attorney, he practiced law for 52
1-14     years, most recently as counsel to the law firm of McGregor,
1-15     McGregor and Carmichael of Hillsboro, and he served on the
1-16     political science faculty at Baylor University and McLennan
1-17     Community College; additionally, he and Doris McGregor, his wife of
1-18     58 years, owned and operated the Bobbitt-McGregor Plum Hill Santa
1-19     Gertrudis cattle ranches since 1956; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Drawing on his education and experience to benefit
1-21     his fellow Texans, Mr. McGregor exemplified the traits of integrity
1-22     and dedication as a public servant while representing McLennan
1-23     County in the Texas House of Representatives for 10 years and
1-24     serving as district attorney of the 66th District Court; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, He was an active member of the First Baptist Church
 2-2     of Hillsboro and also held membership for five decades in Hillsboro
 2-3     Masonic Lodge No. 196, Hillsboro York Rite Bodies, and Karem
 2-4     Shrine; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, Mr. McGregor is fondly remembered as a distinguished
 2-6     Texan who made this state a measurably better place in which to
 2-7     live and work through his many years of public service, and his
 2-8     numerous contributions have ensured that his spirit will live on in
 2-9     the hearts of the many people whose lives he touched; now,
2-10     therefore, be it
2-11           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-12     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Frank Bobbitt
2-13     McGregor and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family:
2-14     to his wife, Doris McGregor; to his three children and their
2-15     spouses, Dusty Stribling and her husband, Eugene, Martha Dwyer and
2-16     her husband, Darwin, and Frank Bobbitt McGregor, Jr., and his wife,
2-17     Brenda; to his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; to
2-18     his two brothers, Joel Ira McGregor, Jr., and Charles Bennett
2-19     McGregor; and to the many other relatives and friends of this fine
2-20     man; and, be it further
2-21           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-22     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-23     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-24     the Honorable Frank Bobbitt McGregor.
