By Gallego H.R. No. 21 77R1033 MW-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of former Fort Davis postmaster Frances 1-2 M. Harvey on June 14, 1999, at the age of 75, deeply saddened the 1-3 family and many friends of this notable Texan; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born on September 15, 1923, in Fort Davis, 1-5 Mrs. Harvey lived and worked in her hometown until 1991, when she 1-6 moved to Socorro, New Mexico, to be with her daughter; and 1-7 WHEREAS, This esteemed woman's talents were recognized by 1-8 President Dwight D. Eisenhower on July 3, 1958, when he appointed 1-9 her postmaster of the Fort Davis Post Office, where she remained in 1-10 dedicated service until retiring in 1983; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Mrs. Harvey devoted a quarter-century to her 1-12 community as postmaster, and her contribution will not soon be 1-13 forgotten by the people she so ably served; throughout her life, 1-14 she fostered many deep friendships, and all who knew her join her 1-15 loving family in mourning her passing; now, therefore, be it 1-16 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-17 Legislature hereby honor the memory of Frances M. Harvey and extend 1-18 sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her sons and 1-19 daughters-in-law, Hulen C. Harvey, Jr., and Janice Harvey and John 1-20 D. Harvey and Myra Harvey; to her daughter and son-in-law, 1-21 Jacqueline H. Janes and Clint Janes; to her sister and 1-22 brother-in-law, Dorothy Flaniken and Raymond Flaniken; to her 1-23 brother and sister-in-law, Oscar Earl Grubb and Phyllis Grubb; and 1-24 to her nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many 2-1 friends and relatives throughout Texas and New Mexico; and, be it 2-2 further 2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-4 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas 2-5 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-6 Frances M. Harvey.
