No. 22 77R1036 JKB-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Manuel Guadalupe Soza of Presidio on 1-2 June 5, 2000, at the age of 87, has left a void in the lives of the 1-3 family and friends of this esteemed gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Soza was born in Presidio County on December 12, 1-5 1912; married on May 4, 1935, he operated Soza's Grocery, Inc., 1-6 with his beloved wife, Rebeca, for more than three decades, and he 1-7 was also active in farming and ranching in the Presidio area; and 1-8 WHEREAS, A long-standing member of Santa Teresa de Jesus 1-9 Catholic Church, Mr. Soza was a well-known figure in the Presidio 1-10 community; this accomplished Texan was a member of the Presidio 1-11 School Board, serving as president of the organization at one time, 1-12 and was among those responsible for establishing the Presidio Lions 1-13 Club; and 1-14 WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, Mr. Soza was a man of 1-15 integrity and compassion, and although he will be greatly missed, 1-16 his spirit will surely live on in the hearts and minds of the many 1-17 people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-19 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Manuel Guadalupe Soza 1-20 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 1-21 children and their spouses, William and Susan Soza, Robert and 1-22 Evalina Soza, Evangelina "Eva" and Rene Juarez, and Maria Guadalupe 1-23 and Bill Shields; to his sisters, Carmen Carrasco, Josefina Rede, 1-24 Librada Hernandez, Biatriz Sewell, and Bernarda Gonzales; to his 2-1 brother, Ruben Soza; to his 12 grandchildren and 22 2-2 great-grandchildren; and to his many other relatives and friends; 2-3 and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of 2-6 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Manuel 2-7 Guadalupe Soza.
