No. 25 77R1038 MJS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Roxana Holland Donnell of Alpine on 1-2 September 13, 1999, at the age of 77, has brought a great loss to 1-3 the family and friends of this esteemed woman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio on October 28, 1921, 1-5 Mrs. Donnell studied at St. Mary's Hall and attended Vassar College 1-6 in New York as a young woman before returning to San Antonio; and 1-7 WHEREAS, She married William Conly Donnell in 1947, and their 1-8 enduring union was blessed with several children and grandchildren; 1-9 and 1-10 WHEREAS, Following her marriage, Mrs. Donnell moved with her 1-11 husband to Lightning Ranch near Marathon; the daughter of Edward 1-12 and Dorothy Gage Holland, Mrs. Donnell was descended from a pioneer 1-13 ranching family and took great pleasure and pride in her family and 1-14 in ranching activities; and 1-15 WHEREAS, In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and 1-16 grandmother, she was an active member of community-minded 1-17 organizations like the Big Bend Regional Medical Center and was 1-18 also involved in local historical preservation efforts; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Although Roxana Holland Donnell will be deeply 1-20 missed, her bright spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of 1-21 all those whose lives she touched, and it is truly appropriate to 1-22 honor her memory at this time; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Roxana Holland 2-1 Donnell and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: 2-2 to her husband, William Conly Donnell; to her daughters, Dorothy 2-3 Mullin and Jean Donnell; to her sons, Frederic Tate and William 2-4 Donnell, Jr.; to her sister, Kathleen Holland Olsen; to her 2-5 grandchildren, Robert Mullin, Jr., Ben Mullin, Roxana Mullin, Conly 2-6 Donnell, Walter Donnell, Robert Norris, Jr., Stewart Norris, John 2-7 Norris, Jessica Tate, Ashlee Donnell, Melissa Donnell, and Seth 2-8 Donnell; and to her numerous other friends and relatives; and, be 2-9 it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas 2-12 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in the memory 2-13 of Roxana Holland Donnell.
