R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, December 18, 2000, was a memorable day in the life 1-2 of Nannie Lee Houston Moham, for on that day she celebrated her 1-3 100th birthday; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native of Grand Cane, Louisiana, Mrs. Moham was 1-5 the third of four children born to Preston and Carrie Houston, and 1-6 attended DeSoto Parish Crossing School in her youth; she later 1-7 married Ephraim Moham, and today her loving family includes six 1-8 children, 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 14 1-9 great-great-grandchildren; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Mrs. Moham resides in Houston where she is 1-11 affectionately known as "Big Mama" for the kindness and compassion 1-12 she shows toward others, particularly those in need; throughout her 1-13 life she has given generously of her time and energy by providing 1-14 hope and companionship for the ill and strength and support 1-15 wherever she is needed; though she has never driven, this lovely 1-16 lady has implemented her own "Meals on Heels," preparing meals for 1-17 the hungry and delivering them on foot on many occasions; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Mrs. Moham is the matriarch of Mt. Pisgah Baptist 1-19 Church, and during her tenure with the institution she has been a 1-20 deaconess and a Sunday school teacher, as well as a member of both 1-21 the Mothers Board and the Missionary Board; after more than nine 1-22 decades of selfless contributions to her fellow citizens, 1-23 Mrs. Moham has earned a special place in the hearts of all who know 1-24 her, and it is a privilege to honor this model citizen at this 2-1 time; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-3 Legislature hereby congratulate Nannie Lee Houston Moham on the 2-4 occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her sincere best 2-5 wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for Mrs. Moham as an expression of high regard by the 2-8 Texas House of Representatives.
