R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The impressive achievements of the 2000 boys' 1-2 cross-country team from Lockhart High School are truly worthy of 1-3 special praise; and 1-4 WHEREAS, At the recent UIL State Cross-Country Championships 1-5 in Round Rock, the Lions outdistanced the rest of the field to 1-6 garner the overall Class 4A boys' team title, their second state 1-7 triumph in the last three years; moreover, this season the squad 1-8 captured its 13th consecutive district title and its sixth regional 1-9 championship in the past eight years; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Receiving valuable support and guidance from 1-11 athletic director Dan Hurley, head coach Scott Hippensteel, and 1-12 assistant coach Doug Alfier, the Lions had a remarkable season that 1-13 would not have been possible without the immeasurable contributions 1-14 of all their talented team members, including Matt Buehner, Seth 1-15 James, Tom Peters, Jose Moctezuma, Casey Thompson, Joseph Gonzalez, 1-16 and Nathan Cubriel; and 1-17 WHEREAS, This outstanding group of runners upheld the 1-18 school's tradition of excellence in the sport while leaving its own 1-19 indelible mark; the competitive spirit and determination of the 1-20 members of the Lockhart High School boys' cross-country team are 1-21 indeed commendable, and as these athletes take pride in their state 1-22 championship, it is most fitting to pay tribute to them for their 1-23 myriad accomplishments; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby honor the members and coaching staff of the 2000 2-2 Lockhart High School boys' cross-country team on winning the state, 2-3 regional, and district titles and extend to them best wishes for 2-4 continued success and happiness; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for the members and coaches of the 2000 Lockhart High 2-7 School boys' cross-country team as an expression of high regard by 2-8 the Texas House of Representatives.
