                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On January 31, 2001, after more than 30 years of
 1-2     outstanding service, Captain Joey J. Ziemian retires from the
 1-3     Euless Police Department; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Since joining the department on August 17, 1970,
 1-5     Captain Ziemian has brought honor to the posts of patrol sergeant,
 1-6     criminal investigation sergeant, and patrol lieutenant; his
 1-7     expertise and distinguished service ultimately garnered him the
 1-8     rank of captain; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Captain Ziemian has exemplified the traits of
1-10     integrity, bravery, and loyalty throughout his tenure with the
1-11     Euless Police Department; during the course of his career he has
1-12     commanded each of the divisions in the department, devoted himself
1-13     to many task forces, and led a multi-agency narcotics unit that
1-14     acted countywide; and
1-15           WHEREAS, A graduate of the FBI National Academy, Captain
1-16     Ziemian has taught in local police academies, and his guidance has
1-17     benefited departments and police training schools throughout North
1-18     Texas; and
1-19           WHEREAS, This fine Texan has been duly recognized for his
1-20     superior work and has received numerous accolades, including
1-21     Officer of the Year, Supervisor of the Year, and Employee of the
1-22     Month for the entire city; he has also been the recipient of many
1-23     other commendations from citizens and peers; and
1-24           WHEREAS, Captain Ziemian's commitment to the community has
 2-1     extended beyond his work with the police department, for he has
 2-2     devoted many hours to coaching baseball and leading other youth
 2-3     sports organizations; an active participant in his sons' schools,
 2-4     he has always remained highly involved with his family and with his
 2-5     town; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, Captain Ziemian's sterling tenure of more than three
 2-7     decades has earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and
 2-8     townspeople alike, and it is indeed a privilege to commend him for
 2-9     his dedication to the police department and citizens of Euless;
2-10     now, therefore, be it
2-11           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-12     Legislature hereby honor Captain Joey J. Ziemian on his retirement
2-13     from the Euless Police Department and extend to him warmest best
2-14     wishes for continued happiness and success; and, be it further
2-15           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-16     prepared for Captain Ziemian as an expression of high regard by the
2-17     Texas House of Representatives.
