R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The family and friends of Fred Douglas Deaver of 1-2 Odessa were deeply saddened by the passing of this esteemed 1-3 gentleman on September 16, 2000, at the age of 74; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born in Copeland, Mr. Deaver was blessed with a 1-5 loving family, and throughout his life he drew strength and 1-6 inspiration from his devout faith as a participant in the Baptist 1-7 church; and 1-8 WHEREAS, A highly regarded member of the teaching profession, 1-9 he taught for the Ector County Independent School District until 1-10 his retirement; and 1-11 WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman also fulfilled his duty 1-12 to his country by answering his nation's call to arms as a member 1-13 of the United States Navy during World War II; and 1-14 WHEREAS, In serving his family, church, community, and 1-15 country, Mr. Deaver gave generously of his talents and energy to 1-16 help those around him; although his presence is gone from us now, 1-17 his spirit remains in the hearts of the many people whose lives he 1-18 touched; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-20 Legislature hereby honor the memory of Fred Douglas Deaver and 1-21 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, 1-22 Lillian Beatrice Deaver; to his daughters, Debra Irene Byrd and Dr. 1-23 Tara Yvette Deaver; to his sisters, Maude Lucas, Dorothy Pledge, 1-24 and Emma Glenn; to his two grandchildren; and to his many other 2-1 friends and relatives; and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-3 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-4 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-5 Fred Douglas Deaver.
