No. 69 77R3796 MJS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The groundbreaking for the National Cowgirl Museum 1-2 and Hall of Fame's new facility takes place in February 2001 in 1-3 Fort Worth, and this noteworthy event is indeed worthy of special 1-4 recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Since it opened in Hereford in 1975, the facility 1-6 has established itself as an educational resource for countless 1-7 people and is nationally renowned for its exhibits, research 1-8 library, rare photograph collection, and the honorees in its Hall 1-9 of Fame; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2002, the 1-11 new 33,000-square-foot facility is located in Fort Worth's 1-12 venerable cultural district and will include five exhibit 1-13 galleries, traveling exhibits, and a multipurpose theater, as well 1-14 as an expanded research library, a retail store, and the 1-15 prestigious Hall of Fame; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Cowgirls helped shape the American West and have 1-17 become an enduring symbol of strength, hope, and perseverance, and 1-18 this outstanding structure will give fellow Texans and visitors an 1-19 appreciation for the spirit of these pioneering women; and 1-20 WHEREAS, The rich heritage and tradition of the cowgirl 1-21 spirit is an important part of the Lone Star State's history, and 1-22 it is truly a privilege to acknowledge the development of the new 1-23 site of the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame; now, 1-24 therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby commemorate the groundbreaking of the National 2-3 Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame and extend to all those associated 2-4 with this unique facility sincere best wishes for good fortune and 2-5 happiness in future endeavors; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for prominent display in the National Cowgirl Museum and 2-8 Hall of Fame as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of 2-9 Representatives.
