R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce is
 1-2     celebrating its 25th anniversary and this notable milestone is
 1-3     indeed worthy of special recognition; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Serving the rapidly growing city of Colleyville and
 1-5     its vicinity, the chamber enjoys a membership of more than 900
 1-6     individuals, two-thirds of them from outside the city limits; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, This crucial organization provides its members
 1-8     numerous opportunities to share experience, build contacts, promote
 1-9     their businesses to area residents, and work with others for an
1-10     even stronger community; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Among the popular member-centered programs are the
1-12     monthly luncheons, which draw an average attendance of more than
1-13     200 people, the informal mixers, and discussion groups created for
1-14     home-based and network-based businesses; and
1-15           WHEREAS, An annual business expo and a newsletter, mailed six
1-16     times a year to every area home and business, give chamber members
1-17     broad exposure and help to inform residents about the local
1-18     availability of many services; the chamber also arranges for ribbon
1-19     cuttings and grand openings to receive coverage in the local press;
1-20     and
1-21           WHEREAS, Members of the chamber give critical support to the
1-22     Vital Link Program, which provides one-week placements for seventh
1-23     grade students in businesses, judicial and city offices, and police
1-24     and fire departments, and to the Texas Scholars Program, a
 2-1     demanding course of study for high school students that better
 2-2     prepares graduates for the next stage in their lives, whether it be
 2-3     further education or entrance into the workforce; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, Since 1987 the chamber has conducted Leadership
 2-5     Colleyville, a program to identify potential community leaders and
 2-6     to equip them with an understanding of area issues and
 2-7     institutions; another undertaking, the Colleyville Community
 2-8     Roundtable, brings together civic, social, and volunteer
 2-9     organizations to coordinate their activities and to facilitate the
2-10     promotion of Colleyville; and
2-11           WHEREAS, The Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce is making
2-12     significant contributions to the development of Colleyville and its
2-13     environs, and it is a pleasure to commend this outstanding
2-14     organization for its vision,  dedication, and dynamic leadership;
2-15     now, therefore, be it
2-16           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-17     Legislature hereby congratulate the Colleyville Area Chamber of
2-18     Commerce on the occasion of its 25th anniversary and extend to all
2-19     its members sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
2-20     further
2-21           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-22     prepared for the chamber as an expression of high regard by the
2-23     Texas House of Representatives.
