R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Hunter Blain of Odessa has distinguished himself as
1-2 an exceptional young man who is indeed worthy of special
1-3 legislative recognition; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Born September 28, 1995, to Gregg and Theresa Blain,
1-5 Hunter has demonstrated tremendous intellectual ability, resulting
1-6 in a number of significant scholarly accomplishments; he is a first
1-7 grade student in Texas Tech University's Extended Studies Program,
1-8 where he has excelled in such fields as language arts, mathematics,
1-9 science, and social studies; and
1-10 WHEREAS, In addition to his classwork, Hunter has taken a
1-11 keen interest in geography and history, and he is able to identify
1-12 the 185 member states of the United Nations by their flag and
1-13 geographic location, the location of America's 50 states, and the
1-14 United States presidents by portrait and order of term served;
1-15 currently, he is studying the taxonomy of the animal kingdom, state
1-16 capitals, and landmarks and geographical features both here and
1-17 abroad; and
1-18 WHEREAS, The youngest member of the North American
1-19 Vexillological Association, Hunter created and conducted a video
1-20 presentation for the organization's 34th annual meeting describing
1-21 his use of mnemonic devices to remember flags; this gifted child is
1-22 also a member of Mensa, a worldwide organization that admits only
1-23 persons scoring within the top two percent of the population on a
1-24 standardized intelligence test; and
2-1 WHEREAS, At a mere five years of age, Hunter has appeared on
2-2 several national television shows, including The Tonight Show with
2-3 Jay Leno, Live with Regis & Kathie Lee, and Who Wants To Be a
2-4 Millionaire, and he has been featured locally in numerous radio,
2-5 newspaper, and television news interviews; moreover, he recently
2-6 made his acting debut on the television series It's a Miracle; and
2-7 WHEREAS, In light of his remarkable achievements at this
2-8 young age, Hunter Blain will undoubtedly continue to excel in his
2-9 many worthwhile pursuits and is ensured a bright and promising
2-10 future; now, therefore, be it
2-11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-12 Legislature hereby honor Hunter Blain for his outstanding academic
2-13 accomplishments and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
2-14 success and happiness in all of his endeavors; and, be it further
2-15 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-16 prepared for Hunter Blain as an expression of high regard by the
2-17 Texas House of Representatives.
