R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Youth Appreciation Week, sponsored by the South
 1-2     Central Texas District of Optimist International, honors young
 1-3     Texans for their achievements in the arts, sciences,  humanities,
 1-4     and other areas of scholastic and civic distinction; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, The ceremonies, scheduled for March 7, 2001, involve
 1-6     the 16 Optimist Clubs that serve the Greater Capital Area district;
 1-7     and
 1-8           WHEREAS, High school students will be presented with awards
 1-9     for noteworthy performances in individual academic categories and
1-10     outstanding accomplishments in sports, music, public service, and
1-11     other extracurricular activities; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives heartily endorses
1-13     the efforts of the Optimist Clubs in encouraging area youth and
1-14     fully supports the goals of Youth Appreciation Week; now,
1-15     therefore, be it
1-16           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-17     Legislature hereby grant the South Central Texas District of
1-18     Optimist International permission to use the house chamber,
1-19     provided that the house is not in session and subject to house
1-20     rules and policies of the Committee on House Administration, from 7
1-21     p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, for the purpose of
1-22     holding an awards ceremony in connection with Youth Appreciation
1-23     Week.
