No. 87 77R4536 JKB-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Cheryl Wixtrom has been named Teacher of the Year 1-2 for 1999-2000 by the Red Oak Independent School District (ISD), and 1-3 in light of this accomplishment she is indeed deserving of special 1-4 recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A former chemistry teacher at Red Oak High School, 1-6 Ms. Wixtrom graduated from high school in Webster, New York, and 1-7 earned her degree from the University of Dallas; she began her 1-8 acclaimed teaching career after 14 years in the field of medical 1-9 research with Southwestern Medical School and the Baylor Hospital 1-10 Research Center; and 1-11 WHEREAS, A dedicated educator, Ms. Wixtrom has worked to 1-12 inspire the creativity and natural curiosity within each of her 1-13 students; by encouraging these youngsters to do their best, ask 1-14 questions, and take risks, she is helping to build a bright future 1-15 for the next generation of leaders; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Endeavoring to inspire a passion for learning and 1-17 equip young Texans with the skills and knowledge necessary for 1-18 success is truly a commendable undertaking; during her three-year 1-19 tenure with Red Oak ISD, Cheryl Wixtrom earned a special place in 1-20 the hearts of many of her students and the respect and admiration 1-21 of her colleagues and friends, and she truly merits legislative 1-22 recognition for her most recent achievement; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby congratulate Cheryl Wixtrom on being named 2-1 1999-2000 Teacher of the Year by the Red Oak Independent School 2-2 District and extend sincere best wishes to her for continued 2-3 success and happiness; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for Ms. Wixtrom as an expression of high regard by the 2-6 Texas House of Representatives.
