                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Fred "Fritz" Paul Dornak of El Campo, who passed
 1-2     away on July 6, 2000, at the age of 77, was beloved by his family
 1-3     and numerous friends for his life of honor, courage, and
 1-4     steadfastness; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Born June 30, 1923, in Hillje, Texas, Mr. Dornak
 1-6     married Helen Dluhos and with her raised a close-knit and lively
 1-7     family; they and their children enjoyed a life deeply rooted in
 1-8     Wharton County, enriched by the nearby presence of many brothers,
 1-9     sisters, cousins, nephews, and nieces; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Mr. Dornak was also tied to the land as a farmer,
1-11     and to the town of El Campo as a businessman; several generations
1-12     of El Campo residents knew him as the owner of Emil's Place, a
1-13     popular restaurant that he operated for 53 years; and
1-14           WHEREAS, During World War II this notable Texan served with
1-15     distinction in the United States Army Air Corps; after the war he
1-16     continued to serve his fellow citizens, in part through his
1-17     membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Post 251 of the
1-18     American Legion; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Committed to his faith, Mr. Dornak was a valued
1-20     member of St. Philip Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus;
1-21     and
1-22           WHEREAS, Fritz Dornak exemplified the best values of a
1-23     generation that preserved democracy at tremendous personal cost and
1-24     that built a stronger, more prosperous society on the foundation
 2-1     laid by their forebears, and it is truly fitting that he be
 2-2     remembered by this state; now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-4     Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Fred "Fritz"
 2-5     Paul Dornak and extend its sincere sympathy to the members of his
 2-6     family: to his wife, Helen Dornak; to his children and their
 2-7     spouses, Janice M. and Milton Riedel, Mary Kay and Robby Cook,
 2-8     Preston Thomas and Mary Jane Dornak, Bruce E. and Norma Dornak,
 2-9     Philip J. and Brenda Dornak, and Joe Ray and Dawn Dornak; to his
2-10     sisters, Mary Bercak and Pauline Zboril; to his brothers, Bill
2-11     Dornak and Louis Dornak; to his grandchildren, Curtis, Jordan, and
2-12     Scott Dornak, Cody and Courtney Riedel, Jenna and Taylor Cook,
2-13     Stacie Williamson, Mandy Daniels, and Kandi Alcalais; to his
2-14     great-grandchildren, Tyler Williamson and Kasey Alcalais; and to
2-15     his many other loved ones; and, be it further
2-16           RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
2-17     for the members of Mr. Dornak's family and that when the Texas
2-18     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-19     Fred Paul Dornak.
