R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride
1-2 in welcoming the visiting delegation for Duchesne Academy of the
1-3 Sacred Heart to the State Capitol on January 25, 2001; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Founded in 1960, Duchesne Academy is an outstanding
1-5 college-preparatory institution, featuring an innovative curriculum
1-6 that provides for its students' intellectual, spiritual, emotional,
1-7 social, and physical development; the academy welcomes more than
1-8 600 girls ranging from age four to 18 who are of many different
1-9 nationalities and religious denominations; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Duchesne students demonstrate a love of learning
1-11 that compels them to hone their natural abilities and to strive to
1-12 make the world a more just place; drawing on their inherent desire
1-13 to learn, Duchesne Academy endeavors to provide its students with a
1-14 well-rounded education that reinforces the school's timeless ideals
1-15 while helping each individual to reach her potential; and
1-16 WHEREAS, With faith as a foundation, the academy instills in
1-17 its students the importance of embracing and celebrating a diverse
1-18 community; the young women who attend Duchesne Academy of the
1-19 Sacred Heart are undoubtedly receiving an exemplary education, and
1-20 it is truly a privilege to pay tribute to these future leaders and
1-21 to commend their committed instructors; now, therefore, be it
1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-23 Legislature hereby warmly welcome the visiting students and faculty
1-24 from Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart and extend to them
2-1 sincere best wishes for an enjoyable day at the State Capitol.
