                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Nancy Vaughan is retiring from the Texas Education
 1-2     Agency (TEA) as its information resources manager, drawing to a
 1-3     close a distinguished tenure of service to the State of Texas; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, In 1976, Mrs. Vaughan began what would become a long
 1-5     and well-respected career as an employee of the State of Texas when
 1-6     she joined the staff of the Texas Department of Human Services,
 1-7     where she would work for 14 years and ascend to the position of
 1-8     assistant deputy commissioner of information systems; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Her extensive knowledge of technology enabled her to
1-10     obtain the position of director of technology development with the
1-11     TEA in 1990; after a four-year stint with the Texas Natural
1-12     Resource Conservation Commission, this dedicated woman returned to
1-13     the TEA as its information resources manager in 1995; and
1-14           WHEREAS, During her 25-year career, Mrs. Vaughan has held
1-15     numerous leadership positions in a host of interagency groups,
1-16     including the Advisory Board for the Southwestern Region Government
1-17     Technology Conference 2000, the SACC Automation Subcommittee, the
1-18     West Texas Disaster Recovery and Operations Center Advisory Board,
1-19     the Automation Information Systems Advisory Council, and the
1-20     Geographic Information Systems Planning Council; in addition, she
1-21     was both the director and president-elect of the Texas Association
1-22     for State Systems for Computing and Communications, an agency
1-23     advisor for the Telecommunications Planning Group, and a member of
1-24     the Department of Information Resources Year 2000 Steering
 2-1     Committee; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, On January 26, 2001, this noteworthy individual
 2-3     concludes her exemplary career in state service, leaving a legacy
 2-4     of hard work, commitment, and integrity; in light of her myriad
 2-5     contributions to the Lone Star State, it is truly a privilege to
 2-6     honor her at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-8     Legislature hereby express its appreciation to Nancy Vaughan for
 2-9     her years of dedicated service to the State of Texas and extend to
2-10     her sincere best wishes for success in her future endeavors; and,
2-11     be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13     prepared for Mrs. Vaughan as an expression of high regard by the
2-14     Texas House of Representatives.
