R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Reverend B. J. E. McQueen of Austin is being
 1-2     honored by the congregation of St. Stephens Missionary Baptist
 1-3     Church for his 17 years of dedicated service as its pastor, and he
 1-4     is truly deserving of special recognition at this time; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Reverend McQueen began his ministry at the church in
 1-6     1983; during his tenure, the membership has grown from 50 to more
 1-7     than 1,000 faithful worshipers today; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Currently working toward a doctorate at the
 1-9     University of Houston's Graduate School of Theology, Reverend
1-10     McQueen has earned a master's degree from West Lake Presbyterian
1-11     School of Theology and a bachelor's degree from Huston-Tillotson
1-12     College; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Reverend McQueen has been instrumental in organizing
1-14     practical assistance efforts, including family life centers, a
1-15     housing program, the Lillian Robinson Scholarship Fund to make
1-16     available $300 to every student in the church, the Jacob Fountain
1-17     Scholarship to provide a four-year scholarship to a deserving young
1-18     scholar each year, and the church's benevolence program, which
1-19     helps individuals throughout the Capitol City; and
1-20           WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, the Reverend McQueen enjoys
1-21     the support of his close-knit family, including his devoted wife,
1-22     Susan, and their two beloved children; and
1-23           WHEREAS, The Reverend McQueen has provided invaluable support
1-24     and spiritual inspiration to countless individuals over the course
 2-1     of his career in the ministry, and it is a privilege to honor him
 2-2     at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-4     Legislature hereby commend the Reverend B. J. E. McQueen for his
 2-5     dedication to the residents of Austin and extend to him best wishes
 2-6     for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for the Reverend McQueen as an expression of high regard
 2-9     by the Texas House of Representatives.
