R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to pay 1-2 tribute to Tom Romanelli, who retired from his position with Del 1-3 Rio Police Department in May 2000; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Officer Romanelli first came to 1-5 Texas in 1958 as a member of the United States Air Force stationed 1-6 at Laughlin Air Force Base; he met his wife, Yolanda, in Del Rio, 1-7 and the couple were married in that city and lived there until his 1-8 discharge in 1960, when they relocated to Chicago; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The Romanellis moved back to Del Rio a decade later 1-10 and raised their three children in that southwestern Texas city; 1-11 Mr. Romanelli takes great pride in his close-knit family that now 1-12 includes five beloved grandchildren; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Over the course of his exemplary 28 years on the 1-14 force, Tom Romanelli's record was one of meritorious service, 1-15 loyalty, personal bravery, and self-sacrifice consistent with the 1-16 highest ideals of the law enforcement profession, and it is most 1-17 appropriate to take the opportunity presented by his retirement to 1-18 join the many people he has aided over the last three decades in 1-19 thanking him for an outstanding career in public service; now, 1-20 therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby commend Tom Romanelli for his steadfast 1-23 commitment to the public welfare and extend to him sincere best 1-24 wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for Mr. Romanelli as an expression of high regard by the 2-3 Texas House of Representatives.
