R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Katy High School Tigers football team has
 1-2     ascended to the pinnacle of success by winning the 2000 UIL Class
 1-3     5A Division II state championship; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Facing Tyler John Tyler High School at the Astrodome
 1-5     in the state title game, the Tigers demonstrated true championship
 1-6     heart in overcoming their opponent 35-20, ending their storybook
 1-7     season with a perfect record of 16 wins and no losses; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Katy's unblemished campaign was a result of total
 1-9     dedication to the team concept by players Adrian Alston, Jonathan
1-10     Assad, Blake Beckendorff, Evan Bennett, Jamel Branch, Tom Brown,
1-11     Tony Burson, Michael Cathey, Anthony Crosby, Beau Davidson, Michael
1-12     Feigleson, Anansi Flaherty, Jacob Flamm, Tim Foster, Matt Frazee,
1-13     Casey Goosby, Jeff Gotte, Barry Graff, Matt Harrell, Tyrel Henry,

 2-4           WHEREAS, Head coach Mike Johnson demonstrated exemplary
 2-5     leadership, and he was ably supported in his efforts by assistant
 2-6     coaches Gary Joseph, Chris Massey, Kent Bruno, John Pease, Jeff
 2-7     Rhoads, Todd Thompson, Tom McPherson, Jeff Dixon, Clayton Odom,
 2-8     Scott Svendsen, and Greg Miller; and
 2-9           WHEREAS, Other invaluable off-the-field assistance was
2-10     provided by head trainer Laura Ibarra; assistant trainer Russell
2-11     Sadberry; student trainers Clint Brouillard, Lauren Dobbs, Summer
2-12     Gebhart, Sarah Long, Chase Phillips, Micheal Stupl, Catie Tabler,
2-13     and April Vander Vegte; team physician Dr. Mark Bing, and
2-14     orthopedic specialist Dr. Larry Likover; and
2-15           WHEREAS, These outstanding young men, along with their
2-16     coaches and staff, are a source of tremendous pride to the students
2-17     and faculty at Katy High School, as well as their supporters in the
2-18     community, and it is truly appropriate that they be honored at this
2-19     time; now, therefore, be it
2-20           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-21     Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Katy High School
2-22     Tigers football team on winning the 2000 UIL Class 5A Division II
2-23     state championship and extend to them sincere best wishes for
2-24     continued success; and, be it further     RESOLVED, That an
2-25     official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Katy High
2-26     School football team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-27     House of Representatives.
