R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Wichita Falls High School football team had a
1-2 stellar 2000 season, and the Coyotes' impressive gridiron
1-3 accomplishments are deserving of special legislative recognition;
1-4 and
1-5 WHEREAS, Head coach Leo Brittain and the rest of the coaching
1-6 staff skillfully guided the Coyotes to a 14-1 overall record and an
1-7 appearance in the 2000 UIL Class 4A Division II state football
1-8 semifinals; and
1-9 WHEREAS, The Coyotes reached several milestones this season:
1-10 three running backs gained more than 1,000 yards, four linemen
1-11 earned selection to the all-state first team, and the team set a
1-12 school record for most points in a season, with 541; moreover, they
1-13 matched the school's all-time victory total for a single season;
1-14 and
1-15 WHEREAS, Greg Henderson, Detrick Cade, and Joseph Aboussie
1-16 powered Wichita Falls' prolific offensive attack, combining for an
1-17 astounding 4,069 rushing yards and 65 touchdowns; in their five
1-18 playoff games, the Coyotes outscored the opposition 156-72; and
1-19 WHEREAS, Wichita Falls also had a stingy defensive unit that
1-20 was anchored by Tyler Ashley and Thomas Robertson, who each had
1-21 more than 170 tackles; in addition, Rob Daniel had a team-high 7
1-22 sacks and recorded 118 tackles; and
1-23 WHEREAS, Achieving such an outstanding season required each
1-24 of the talented players to perform to the best of his abilities;
2-1 the Coyotes' success this year is an apt reflection of their hard
2-2 work and dedication, and it is indeed appropriate to pay tribute to
2-3 them at this time; now, therefore, be it
2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-5 Legislature hereby congratulate the 2000 Wichita Falls High School
2-6 football team on its remarkable season and extend to its team
2-7 members, coaches, and supporters sincere best wishes for continued
2-8 good fortune and happiness; and, be it further
2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-10 prepared for the Wichita Falls High School football team as a token
2-11 of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
