R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Robert Zavala on August 5, 2000, at
 1-2     the age of 75, brought a great loss to the many friends and
 1-3     relatives of this esteemed Del Rio resident; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A native of Fort Worth, Mr. Zavala served his nation
 1-5     with distinction during World War II as a member of the U.S. Marine
 1-6     Corps; he later attended The University of Texas at Austin, where
 1-7     he attained his bachelor of science degree in engineering; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, After moving with his family to Del Rio in 1969, he
 1-9     became chief engineer at Laughlin Air Force Base, a position he
1-10     held until his retirement in 1988; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Mr. Zavala was an active member of First
1-12     Presbyterian Church, serving the congregation as a deacon, elder,
1-13     and Sunday school superintendent; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Those who were fortunate enough to share the
1-15     friendship of Mr. Zavala will long miss his presence, but his
1-16     remarkable spirit will live on in the hearts of those whose lives
1-17     he touched during his time on this earth; now, therefore, be it
1-18           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-19     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Zavala and
1-20     extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
1-21     Omega Zavala; to his daughter, Michelle Zavala; to his son and
1-22     daughter-in-law, Roland and Ester Zavala; to his brother and
1-23     sister-in-law, Richard and Ruth Zavala; to his sister and
1-24     brother-in-law, Rosalinda and Robert Vela; to his grandson, Noah
 2-1     Robert Zavala; and to the many other friends and relatives of this
 2-2     beloved gentleman; and, be it further
 2-3           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-4     prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 2-5     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert
 2-6     Zavala.
