No. 178 77R5169 JKB-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The League City Volunteer Emergency Medical Service 1-2 (LCVEMS) has been selected as the 2000 EMS Volunteer Provider of 1-3 the Year by the Texas Department of Health, and this noteworthy 1-4 honor is indeed deserving of special legislative recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Established in 1984, LCVEMS is a nonprofit ambulance 1-6 service that provides pre-hospital emergency medical care and 1-7 transport to the citizens of League City; and 1-8 WHEREAS, With approximately 40 medical technicians and 1-9 paramedics, including associate members who cover at least three 1-10 12-hour shifts a month and active members who cover at least six 1-11 shifts a month, LCVEMS includes some of the most dedicated 1-12 volunteers in the state; and 1-13 WHEREAS, During the year 2000, this notable group established 1-14 the American Heart Association Community Training Center for CPR 1-15 training, sponsored and coordinated the third annual Saul Balderas 1-16 Mass CPR Event, and participated in the local Blue Santa program; 1-17 in addition, it was honored as EMS Public Provider of the Year for 1-18 2000 by the Greater Houston EMS Council, which also named the 1-19 team's chief, John Accomando, as EMS Administrator of the Year; and 1-20 WHEREAS, The EMS volunteers of League City have earned the 1-21 respect and appreciation of their colleagues and the citizens of 1-22 the Lone Star State, and it is most fitting to honor the men and 1-23 women who give so generously of their time and skills to this 1-24 worthwhile organization; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby commend the members of the League City Volunteer 2-3 Emergency Medical Service for its selection as 2000 EMS Volunteer 2-4 Provider of the Year by the Texas Department of Health and extend 2-5 to all those associated with the organization sincere best wishes 2-6 for the future; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for LCVEMS as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-9 House of Representatives.
