R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The family and friends of Colonel R. C. "Rocky" 1-2 Rosacker of Fort Worth were deeply saddened by the passing of this 1-3 esteemed gentleman on January 19, 2001, at the age of 83; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born on January 3, 1918, Colonel Rosacker attended 1-5 the University of Kansas on a football scholarship, but his studies 1-6 were truncated by his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps 1-7 at the outset of World War II; he served with distinction in the 1-8 corps during both World War II and the Korean War, and he retired 1-9 as a colonel with three Purple Hearts, four Bronze Stars, and a 1-10 host of combat medals; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Colonel Rosacker returned to college and in 1954 1-12 earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of 1-13 Maryland, followed by a master of political science degree from 1-14 Boston University in 1963; he later resumed his studies and 1-15 obtained a master of arts degree from Texas Christian University in 1-16 1993; and 1-17 WHEREAS, A source of inspiration for many young people, 1-18 Colonel Rosacker was athletic director of Fort Worth Country Day 1-19 School for 12 years, coaching football, track, and soccer; he also 1-20 worked as athletic director at the Oakridge School in Arlington for 1-21 four years; and 1-22 WHEREAS, In 1988, as a testament to Colonel Rosacker's 1-23 enduring influence on his students, Country Day renamed the 1-24 school's playing field to Rosacker Field in his honor; furthermore, 2-1 in October 2000 he was named an honorary alumnus of that noteworthy 2-2 school; and 2-3 WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, a courageous soldier, 2-4 and a man of the highest ideals who positively influenced the lives 2-5 of countless youth, this distinguished Texan lives on as his spirit 2-6 endures in the hearts of the many people whose lives he deeply 2-7 affected; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-9 Legislature hereby honor the memory of Colonel R. C. Rosacker and 2-10 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, 2-11 Jo Helen Montford Dean Rosacker; to his sons, Dr. James A. "Gus" 2-12 Rosacker and his wife, Carol; Lt. Col. R. C. "Rocky" Rosacker II 2-13 and his wife, Amy; and Lt. Col. David P. "Nails" Rosacker and his 2-14 wife, Sherry; to his stepsons, Dr. Mark Dean and his wife, Brooke; 2-15 and Dr. Kirk Dean and his wife, Lyn; to his brothers, Otis Rosacker 2-16 and Calvin "Bud" Rosacker and his wife, Patti; to his 15 2-17 grandchildren; to his 7 great-grandchildren; and to his many other 2-18 relatives and friends; and, be it further 2-19 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-20 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of 2-21 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Colonel 2-22 R.
