R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Baskin Elementary School has been awarded 1-2 "exemplary" status by the Texas Education Agency for its overall 1-3 excellence in academic achievement; and 1-4 WHEREAS, This designation establishes the school as one of 1-5 the best in Texas and as one that is committed to the exemplary 1-6 academic performance of its students; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Among the demanding criteria that must be met to 1-8 attain this status are a minimum of 90 percent of students passing 1-9 each section of the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) 1-10 examination, a minimum 94 percent attendance rate, and a maximum 1-11 dropout rate of one percent; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Enhanced academic achievement is the goal of all 1-13 schools statewide, and attaining this special designation is truly 1-14 a remarkable feat; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The students and faculty at Baskin Elementary School 1-16 have performed admirably in their quest for academic excellence, 1-17 and their notable achievements as an "exemplary" school are indeed 1-18 worthy of special commendation; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-20 Legislature hereby congratulate the students and faculty of Baskin 1-21 Elementary School on their school's designation as "exemplary" by 1-22 the Texas Education Agency and extend to them sincere best wishes 1-23 for continued success; and, be it further 1-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-1 prepared for Baskin Elementary School as an expression of high 2-2 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
