                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Jarad Lee Kent of Tyler has achieved the highest
 1-2     rank bestowed by the Boy Scouts of America with his receipt of the
 1-3     prestigious Eagle Scout insignia; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Since beginning his scouting experience in the Cub
 1-5     Scouts, Mr. Kent has worked his way through the ranks of Cub Scouts
 1-6     and then Boy Scouts to the rank of Eagle Scout; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, In completing the rigorous qualifications necessary
 1-8     to ascend to the rank of Eagle Scout, this outstanding young Texan
 1-9     worked diligently to earn the requisite merit badges and complete
1-10     his Eagle Scout project, the construction of two concrete baseball
1-11     dugouts for Bishop T. K. Gorman High School in Tyler; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Mr. Kent was elected to the Boy Scouts of America
1-13     Order of the Arrow, was awarded the Ad Altare Dei Catholic
1-14     religious emblem, and completed a two-week backpacking high
1-15     adventure at Camp Philmont; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Mr. Kent is an honor student at Bishop T. K. Gorman
1-17     High School; he is the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper,
1-18     vice president of the student council, and a member of the National
1-19     Honor Society and has received many scholastic awards and
1-20     recognitions; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Actively involved in competitive sports, he is a
1-22     three-year varsity football letterman, a two-year varsity track
1-23     letterman, and a four-year varsity golf team letterman, and he has
1-24     been captain of the golf team for two years; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, Also active in his church, this notable young man
 2-2     has been an altar server for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
 2-3     since the fourth grade, is a lay Eucharistic minister, and has
 2-4     helped with numerous retreats; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, The rank of Eagle Scout is attained by only a few
 2-6     accomplished individuals, and Mr. Kent's achievement is indeed
 2-7     worthy of recognition and high praise; now, therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-9     Legislature hereby congratulate Jarad Lee Kent for earning the rank
2-10     of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
2-11     success and happiness; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13     prepared for Eagle Scout Jarad Lee Kent as an expression of high
2-14     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
