R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, February 27, 2001, is a day of great significance in
 1-2     the lives of Victor and Krista Simonds of Pflugerville, for on that
 1-3     date their beloved daughter, Isabel Lin Simonds, officially becomes
 1-4     a citizen of this state and nation; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Simonds went to great lengths to find
 1-6     the little girl of their dreams, having traveled to Nanning, China,
 1-7     in the fall of 1999 to adopt Isabel, who was born on December 19,
 1-8     1998, and bring her home to the Lone Star State; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Isabel's Chinese adoption decree was formally
1-10     recognized in an order issued by the 53rd District Court of Travis
1-11     County as holding the same validity and dignity as though it had
1-12     originally been ordered by the Texas court, and her proud parents
1-13     have also been issued a valid birth certificate by the Texas
1-14     Department of Health; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Initially granted permanent resident status on her
1-16     entry into the United States, Isabel will become a U.S. citizen on
1-17     February 27, 2001, the date on which the Child Citizenship Act of
1-18     2000 takes effect, and it is a privilege to acknowledge this
1-19     charming young lady's new status at this time; now, therefore, be
1-20     it
1-21           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-22     Legislature hereby congratulate Victor and Krista Simonds on the
1-23     adoption of their daughter, Isabel Lin Simonds, on the occasion of
1-24     her naturalization as a U.S. citizen and extend to Isabel sincere
 2-1     best wishes for a bright and promising future; and, be it further
 2-2           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-3     prepared for Isabel and her parents as an expression of high regard
 2-4     by the Texas House of Representatives.
