Stewart of Plano is most deserving of 1-2 special recognition for his exemplary service with the Collin 1-3 County Mental Health and Mental Retardation (MHMR) Center; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born on January 3, 1927, Mr. Stewart attended 1-5 Loughlin Memorial Prep and Fordham University School of Business 1-6 and furthered his education at New York Textile Institute; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Before retiring in 1992, this esteemed gentleman 1-8 enjoyed a distinguished professional career that included working 1-9 in sales and as a group vice president for 37 years for Fieldcrest 1-10 Mills, Inc., and as a manufacturing consultant for various 1-11 businesses, such as J. P. Stevens and Company, E. I. DuPont, Dundee 1-12 Mills, Inc., and Carters Carpets, Inc.; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Since moving from Basking Ridge, New Jersey, to the 1-14 Lone Star State in 1991, Mr. Stewart has been a vital and active 1-15 member of the Plano community; he has been a member of the board of 1-16 trustees of the Collin County MHMR Center since 1995, and he became 1-17 chairman of the board in 1998 and served admirably in this capacity 1-18 through December 2000; and 1-19 WHEREAS, With his tremendous work ethic, commitment, and 1-20 vision, Mr. Stewart has established himself as a leader in helping 1-21 others, and his ongoing and invaluable efforts continue to make a 1-22 difference in the lives of countless people; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Mr. Stewart's impressive record of service speaks 1-24 volumes about the positive impact he has made on the Plano 2-1 community, and it is truly a privilege to pay tribute to this 2-2 estimable gentleman at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby commend George D. Stewart for his work with the 2-5 Collin County MHMR Center and extend to him sincere best wishes for 2-6 continued good fortune and happiness; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Mr. Stewart as an expression of high regard by the 2-9 Texas House of Representatives.
