R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On February 18, 2001, Dr. Marvis Louis Jackson and 1-2 Clara Belle Jackson of Houston are celebrating their 50th wedding 1-3 anniversary, and this golden milestone truly warrants special 1-4 recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, United in matrimony on February 18, 1951, this happy 1-6 couple have shared a loving union that has been blessed with four 1-7 children, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and 1-8 WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II, Reverend Jackson has been 1-9 the beloved pastor of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church for the 1-10 past 43 years; he is a noteworthy church leader who has been active 1-11 with the South Texas District Association, the Baptist Minister's 1-12 Association, the Political Action Committee, and many community 1-13 organizations; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Mrs. Jackson also has devoted herself to the 1-15 Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, serving for more than 40 years 1-16 the junior boys Sunday school class, choir, General Mission, and 1-17 Junior Ushers; vice president and secretary of Baptist Minister's 1-18 Wives, she has been a foster parent for several children and PTO 1-19 president at Isaacs Elementary School; and 1-20 WHEREAS, For half a century, these loving Texans have enjoyed 1-21 an enduring union filled with many happy times and cherished family 1-22 memories, and it is indeed a privilege to honor them at this time; 1-23 now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Marvis Louis Jackson and Clara 2-2 Belle Jackson on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and 2-3 extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it, 2-4 further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for Dr. and Mrs. Jackson as an expression of high regard 2-7 by the Texas House of Representatives.
